Community workshops are designed to be painted by several people from several different locations at any one time. Coming together to contribute to a large mural project brings community, unity and beauty to one single location - for all of us to enjoy.
With a combination of live video and recorded video each workshop is geared toward remote participation in a larger mural project pre-determined by your school or community. The materials you need will be mailed to you in advance and when you are ready your finished work is mailed back where it will be photographed individually before it becomes a permanent part of the overall mural where it will be mounted on a wall or placed on display. The artwork is designed and painted by members of your group under the guidance of a professional mural artist.
Bringing people together for the common purpose of making art is a rewarding and bonding experience. I am here to help you unify your group around that purpose. When the workshop is over and we put the individual participants' work together, the underlying message is revealed.
Here is a workshop that you can use for parties, weekends, after school, and a single session. We design a project that can be completed in an hour or two with your groups participattion.
Designed for completion of larger projects with 6 to 8 sessions. Involves design collaboration, beginning material preparation processes and final painting.
Workshops can be designed over the course of a semester or several weeks. We can meet once a week, after school, or weekends.
Here are some sample workshops you can use to estimate what might work best for you.
Everything is open for changes that work for your group
Everyone can help to make the experience cohesive - It takes government, city planners, neighborhood councils, local businesses and each one of us to make things work. This is especially true for large public art projects.
It's amazing what we can accomplish one square at a time. When we divide a large project like a mural into smaller steps or squares, we find we can accomplish anything when we approach it in smaller steps.
Everyone is welcome - beginners, experienced and masters. All ages, if you can sit at a table and paint you can help with a mural.
